LiCONiC BiOLiX STC – Automated Bio-Libraries

LiCONiC builds on 25 years of experience in providing climate controlled sample storage automation to offer the STC Bio-Library System. The STC line, one of the five biobanking solutions in the BiOLiX family of automated Biobanking storage products, offers the broadest range of applications and sample capacity requirements.

First installed in 2008, the STC is the longest continuously running -80°C automated storage system solution on the market. System design features and LICONIC’s continual product development commitment continue to evolve in parallel with changing biobanking methods and requirements.

The STC line storage systems are ideally suited for a wide range of storage applications ranging in size from approximately 100 000 to millions of samples and for temperatures ranging from -80°C to RT. Applications include: small molecule compound storage, diagnostics, population based biobanks, disease based biobanks, research biobanks, reagent storage and core sample storage facilities.

LiCONiC's exclusive compressible, high density shelf system is fully enclosed in a vacuum enhanced, insulated chest style compartment. This design exploits the natural property of sinking cold air, providing for an extremely energy efficient enclosure for all temperature ranges.

A multi-function input/ouput Interface and tube picking station are confined to a single system area to prevent moisture ingress and to provide easy service access. A fully redundant refrigeration system is the first of multiple sample safety levels.

STC Storage Conditions

LiCONiC’s unique chest freezer design naturally creates two important benefits: Two climate zones, one for active components at -80°C (or respectively -40°C) – another for passive elements at -20°C and stable horizontal temperature layers in storage area.
